Garden of Life is launching Clear Whey Protein, a lighter alternative to traditional protein powders, the company said. Each serving contains 20 grams of high-quality whey protein isolate and blends into water, smoothies, and other recipes.

As more than 70% of Americans look to increase their protein intake, the new supplement is formulated to appeal to everyday consumers, helping to maintain muscle and support strength and recovery.

Clear Whey Protein will be available in mango mist, lemon frost, and unflavored varieties. The project is iGen Non-GMO certified, made with natural flavors and without artificial colors or sweeteners.

“At Garden of Life, ingredient quality starts with where it comes from,” said Megan Smargiasso, senior director of brand marketing. “That’s why we look to source ingredients from places where they can naturally thrive. For Clear Whey Protein, that means sourcing whey from Denmark, a region known for its strong dairy standards, consistency, and careful stewardship. When ingredients come from well-cared-for environments, the result is a product consumers can feel good about using every day.”

Ahead of its nationwide launch in September, the company will provide previews at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen in June, and a limited-edition kit for National Smoothie Day.

Partnership with Dylan Efron

Garden of Life also announced it is partnering with Dylan Efron, a producer, television personality, and content creator known for his passion for travel, outdoors, and wellness.

“I’ve always cared about what goes into my body and where it comes from, especially with how much I’m traveling, training, and spending time outdoors,” said Efron. “For me, it’s about finding high-quality products that fit naturally into my routine. That’s why this partnership felt so fitting; there’s real intentionality behind the brand, from how they source ingredients to how they bring new products like Clear Whey Protein to Life.”

Garden of Life and Efron traveled to global landmarks to create travel content and itineraries with Travel + Leisure, connecting ingredient origins with lived wellness experiences. The series explores the land, water, and people behind ingredients across the brand’s products, including the fjords of Norway, the source for Dr. Formulated Norwegian Salmon Oil, and bog ecosystems in Newfoundland to support the lichen used in its Organics Once Daily Multivitamin Tablets for Men and Women.

Other local creators will document journeys to sourcing regions in India and Denmark, including guava groves used in multivitamins and dairy farms that supply whey used in Clear Whey Protein.

Together, the content will show how region matters for ingredient quality, culminating in a feature that will appear in the August issue of Travel + Leisure alongside content across the magazine’s and Food & Wine’s digital and social channels.

Efron will attend the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, where Clear Whey Protein will be featured. Festival attendees can try chef-crafted layered protein smoothies in a setting where thoughtfully sourced ingredients take center stage. Efron will serve the smoothies crafted by chef Joe Flamm on June 19 and 20 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. or 4:30-6:30 p.m. MDT, and June 21 from 12:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

National Smoothie Day Kit

For those not in attendance at the Food & Wine Classic, Clear Whey Protein sample packs will be available ahead of the official launch on National Smoothie Day, June 21. The kit includes Mango Mist Clear Whey Protein, smoothie recipes from Joe Flamm, a drinking glass and straw, frother for mixing, and a $50 gift card to purchase ingredients.

The kits will be available for free on a first-come first-served basis via two online drops on June 17 and June 21 at 4 pm EST.
