Nexira, a supplier of natural ingredients and botanical extracts for the food, nutrition, and dietary supplement industries, has acquired Keragum, a Moroccan company specializing in carob-based ingredients. The terms of the transaction have been kept confidential.

Nexira will leverage its global reach, international customer base, scientific and regulatory expertise, and applications capabilities, while Keragum will contribute its own expertise in the carob supply, a strong local sourcing network, and industrial capabilities, Nexira reported.

“With Keragum, Nexira takes a new step forward,” said Mathieu Dondain, vice president and CEO of Nexira. “As with acacia, our ambition is to invest as close as possible to production, securing high-quality raw materials while generating tangible local value. Together, Keragum and Nexira will drive the stability, sustainability, and long-term growth of a market we deeply believe in.”

The acquisition consolidates Nexira’s position in the global market for natural hydrocolloids and carob. Since 2021, Nexira has also been a leading supplier of locust bean gum, following its acquisition of Unipektin, an ingredient prized for its nutritional, thickening, and stabilizing properties across food and nutraceutical applications, including plant-based textures, ice cream stabilization, and, in dietary supplements, appetite management support.

Keragum is based in the Casablanca region of Morocco. The company recently commissioned a production facility backed by FSSC 22000, halal, kosher, and organic certifications. Its partnerships with local cooperatives ensure a reliable, traceable supply of premium carob seeds and raw materials.
