InterHealth, Benicia, CA, received the NutrAward for best new ingredient at Nutracon 2012 for Zychrome, a form of chromium. Industry experts, scientists, nutritionists and Nutracon attendees voted among four NutrAward best new ingredient finalists based on scientific merit, efficacy, market potential, safety, innovation and the ability to increase market credibility. According to the company, preliminary clinical research shows that Zychrome is two times more effective than chromium picolinate in supporting insulin function. InterHealth started development of Zychrome more than five years ago with the objective of creating the best possible chromium available. InterHealth’s director of R&D, James Lugo, PhD, accepted the NutrAward on behalf of InterHealth.
