Results from a recent in vivo study published in the June issue of Current Bioactive Compounds showed that three-week administration of Chirositol (95% D-Chiro-Inositol), from Cyvex Nutrition, alone and in combination with manganese sulfate, significantly reduced blood glucose levels in diabetic mellitus-induced rats.
Results showed that a 12-day oral administration of Chirositol decreased blood glucose levels by a combined 23% when compared to the control group, while administration of both Chirositol and manganese sulfate resulted in a combined 40% decrease during the same time period. Also of note was the decrease in overall body weight of both male and female rats receiving Chirositol and manganese sulfate, with females exhibiting a 25% body weight decrease over the control group, and males 21% as measured during the 21-day study period.
