Ocean Spray Expands Production Capacity
Ocean Spray has expanded production capacity at its Markham facility in Washington for the third time in less than six months. The latest funding has added a $4.5 million sweetened dried cranberry (SDC) retail packaging line to the Markham plant, increasing Ocean Spray’s overall investment to $32.2 million. Earlier this year, the Markham plant received $9.9 million to install a patented system that extracts the juice from cranberries. Two months later, the facility received an additional $17.8 million, giving the plant the capacity to produce SDCs for sale as ingredients to food manufacturers worldwide or packaged as Ocean Spray’s retail brand, Craisins. The Markham facility will have the capacity to produce more than 15 million pounds of SDCs each year.
