Probi will be debuting Sensia, a new congnitive health product concept, at SupplySide West. Within the scientific community, the connection between the gut and neurocognitive functions has been a major research topic during the past few years. Conditions like stress, anxiety, and depression were the first to be addressed, but more research is being carried out in healthy individuals, as the focus has shifted toward finding solutions to everyday issues like sleep quality, moody behavior, memory, and focus.
Probi Sensia is based on clinical data supporting Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HEAL9. The company reports that three clinical studies and two other scientific articles provide evidence that intake of this strain leads to positive interactions on the gut-brain axis. Clinical endpoints assessed have included cortisol levels and inflammation in chronically stressed but otherwise healthy students, as well as decreased symptoms of depression and anxiety.
In the latest study, researchers evaluated outcomes in healthy individuals with moderate stress. Compared to placebo, supplementation was associated with improvements in measures of memory and cognitive function, improved sleep quality, decreased daytime dysfunction, and better mood.
“We are proud to launch our new concept Probi Sensia, based on a strong clinically proven effect, which optimizes and maintains important cognitive functions such as memory as well as mood, sleep and stress. With Probi Sensia we now offer a wide-ranging solution to help our customers to meet diverse consumer needs from a health-related perspective with a broad usage from dietary supplements to functional foods and beverages. We are looking forward to meet up at SupplySide West to show the advantages of our latest innovation." said Anita Johansen, CEO of Probi.
