With nearly a century of experience and knowledge of unique industrial equipment and processes, Indena pioneered and developed Phytosome, a proprietary 100% food-grade biomimetic delivery system that optimizes bioabsorption and pharmacokinetic profile of selected botanical ingredients by formulating them with a dietary ingredient (lecithin).

At Vitafoods Europe 2019, Indena will discuss about sports nutrition and the important role the company’s Ubiqsome, an innovative formulation of coenzyme Q10, can play in that field.

Ubiqsome is the latest release in Indena’s Phytosome delivery system to optimize the bioavailability of natural compounds. Indena Ubiqsome is an innovative bioavailable formulation of Coenzyme Q10, industrially available and standardized to contain not less than 20% of CoQ10.

Coenzyme Q10 plays a central role in generation and regulation of cell bioenergy, involved in transferring of electrons within the mitochondrial oxidative respiratory chain and hence, ATP production, and has been reported to have antioxidant and beneficial effects in optimizing human health and well-being. Endogenous levels of coenzyme Q10 are subject to decline for several reasons related to age, unhealthy conditions and after intense physical stress such as sport activity.

Indena’s Ubiqsome allows for optimization of coenzyme Q10 levels in both human plasma and muscles, thus overcoming the bioavailability issue.

At Vitafoods, Indena will give a presentation focused on Ubiqsome: “Bioavailability and Antioxidant Effects of Ubiqsome, a New Food-grade Delivery System of Coenzyme Q10 for Sports Nutrition,” at the New Ingredients Theatre on Wednesday, May 8, 11:40-12:10.

Indena has long been involved in the field of sports nutrition, and will give a seperate presentation, “Innovation in Sports Nutrition from the Botanical Kingdom,” at the Sports Nutrition Theatre on Tuesday May 7, 12:20-12:50 pm.
