Aker BioMarine, a leading supplier of krill-derived products to the consumer health and wellness and animal nutrition markets, is continuing to make major strides in the krill industry. Recently acquiring Neptune’s popular NKO brand and intellectual property (IP) of Neptune Technologies, Aker BioMarine is excited for the next venture as it explores new innovation opportunities in the nutritional products market.

In addition to its latest acquisition, Aker BioMarine continues to spearhead educational initiatives in the omega-3 industry and support new clinical studies focusing on the benefits of krill oil. Superba Krill is a unique source of the long chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, as well as phospholipids, choline, and astaxanthin.

Omega-3 Index Project Continues to Gain Momentum
As personalized nutrition continues to evolve, self-administered tests will continue to become increasingly popular among consumers. Aker BioMarine believes omega-3 testing will become a bigger part of this conversation. Launched earlier this year, The Omega-3 Index Project was formed in partnership with Dr. William Harris, an internationally recognized omega-3 expert and co-inventor of the Omega-3 Index Test. The goal of the project is to educate everyone about the risks of low omega-3 levels and educate consumers and health practitioners alike about simple nutritional interventions that can make a huge difference. Aker has invited show attendees to get their levels tested and to learn more about the project at Aker BioMarine’s Booth Y153.

The project is currently in full swing and being embraced by many in the industry. And as part of this project, the team at Aker BioMarine started a major consumer awareness campaign to communicate the benefits of krill oil, positioning it as a viable option in the omega-3 space, and one that can help raise omega-3 levels.

Aker BioMarine Makes Education a Priority
In addition to its consumer awareness campaign, Aker BioMarine recently unveiled a new website with a completely updated look, a new blog, and a lot of industry-related content for consumers, retailers, and manufacturers. The company is also debuting a new whiteboard video featuring the never-before-seen story of Superba Krill: From Catch to Capsule. Viewers can follow krill 12,000 miles from Antarctica to North America, with an in-depth look at the entire process in between.

“We are proud of how far we’ve come as a company, and we’re excited for where we’re headed,” said Matts Johansen, CEO of Aker BioMarine. “Over the past few years, the krill industry has grown and evolved and it’s only going to get better. In the past few months alone, the team at Aker BioMarine has much to be proud of from our latest acquisition to the new tools and platforms we created. We’re very optimistic about the path ahead.”
