Nuseed will be showcasing its canola-based omega-3 ingredient, Nutriterra, at IFT First.

Nutriterra is derived from canola genetically engineered to produce DHA, EPA, and ALA. Historically, EPA and DHA have only been available through marine sources such as fish and algae.

With many consumers interested in the health benefits of omega-3, and with 35% of the world’s wild fish stocks already overfished, consumers are seeking sustainable alternatives to fish oil-derived omega-3 fatty acids, with added benefits like plant-based, allergen-free, or free from fishy tastes and aromas.

“Eight out of 10 people don’t get enough omega-3s, and more accessible and sustainable sources are needed to meet human health demand and consumer expectations hwile protecting our oceans for future generations,” said Justin White, global nutrition lead. “Nuseed omega-3 canola, the source plant for Nutriterra, could double the global supply of DHA on less than 5% of current acreage producing the crop.”

The single source of seven long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, including EPA, DHA, and ALA, is available in oil and powder formats and can be incorporated into supplement, food, and beverage applications.

IFT First attendees can learn more about Nutriterra by attending Nuseed’s “Nutriterra: Transforming Omega-3 Nutrition with Groundbreaking DHA Canola Oil,” on July 16 at 3:30 p.m. at booth 5212.

Attendees can also visit Nuseed to try a vegan DHA and vitamin D gummy at booth 3720.
