BLS to Feature Chef-Created Menu with Its Ingredients

Visitors to the company’s booth can sample clean-label, plant-based sliders and two sweet prototypes.

Bioenergy Life Science (BLS) will offer samples of three prototypes featuring its ingredients, and speak with visitors about formulating with its ingredients which are at the core of its product innovation.
 
“Our ingredients do more and they do it better,” said Penny Portner, director of marketing at BLS who, along with Vice President of Sales Marianne McDonagh, will be present in the BLS booth. “Our competitive advantages include Non-GMO Project Verified, keto friendly, slightly sweet flavor profile, browning/caramelizing effect, negative glycemic value, clean label and sustainability.”
 
BLS will feature its flagship ingredient, Bioenergy Ribose, which does more than enable beverage formulas to deliver noticeable, sustained energy by replenishing cellular ATP. It’s the secret behind plant-based proteins’ flavor and aroma.
 
RiaGev is a rising BLS ingredient in the healthy aging category. It is the first and only commercially available patented and specialized formulation with Bioenergy Ribose and nicotinamide. Chef Gerard Viverito (Chef G) developed a prototype menu for this year’s IFT attendees. Each recipe has been developed with a short ingredient list and clean label.  

“Using Ribose is a way to sweeten food without increasing its glycemic index, which is especially good for those of us who are following the keto diet,” said Chef G. “I watch every gram of sugar I put into my body. Unlike monk fruit or stevia, Ribose has a slightly less perceived sweetness profile which many people prefer.
 
“I also wanted to demonstrate its versatility. Bioenergy Ribose is fully soluble and can be heated to 375 degrees.” 
 
The plant-based bunless slider is made with black beans, grains, tomato, and Bioenergy Ribose. “You’ll experience the natural browning, tempting meat-like aroma and caramelization made possible by Bioenergy Ribose,” Chef G said. “This bunless slider is a true celebration of plants.” 


Citrus Gummy Cubes showcase Riagev’s performance in a gummy format. “Fresh but not overly sweet, I wanted to showcase how RiaGev might be used in a gummy format. Just pop one of these in your mouth to get RiaGev’s healthy aging benefits including cognitive support!”

The third sample will be fruit leather, made with just three ingredients. “In the old days, fruit leather was a little juice and a lot of sugar and artificial ingredients. Mine features pureed fruit and a surprisingly small amount of organic sugar. Again, this is made possible because Bioenergy Ribose is slightly sweet,” said Chef G. This is a modern snack for those on-the-go consumers who need that increased energy in an easy-to-consume format.
