LycoRed Ltd. has developed beta-carotene colorant formulations delivering high-intensity coloring. Lyc-O-Beta Intense and BetaCoteIntense deliver increased color intensity allowing for lower colorant usage.
According to the company, the advantages of Lyc-O-Beta and BetaCoteIntense include higher color intensity than any other beta-carotene colorants on the market. They deliver a final product color shade similar to competitive products. Additionally, compared to other technologies, these colors from LycoRed are extremely resistant to the fading that can occur as a result of pasteurization and other stressful processes.
“Manufacturers, especially makers of beverages, consider higher color intensity and stability their top priorities when it comes to natural colorants,” explained Roee Nir, global commercial manager of color for LycoRed. “Another critical parameter for decision makers is color solubility.”
LycoRed’s new beta-carotene colorant products line is highly soluble and is available in a concentrated liquid form for user-friendly processing and production. It is non-foaming and avoids clumping issues common to some powdered colorant formats, making it ideal for use in ready-to-drink beverages.
Available in both natural and nature-identical sources, the colorants are not only vegetarian but kosher and halal and certified free of any allergenic ingredients (as listed in the EU’s Directive 2003/89/EC and these identified in the EU FOOD Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of August 2nd 2004). These colorants are also free of DCM (dichloromethane), a common ingredient found in beta-carotene powder products.
