Hyabest, a hyaluronic acid product designed for knee and joint health from Kewpie Corporation, alleviates symptoms of knee osteoarthritis, according to new research.
Subjects were randomly assigned to the hyaluronic acid (HA) or placebo group. The subjects in the HA group were given hard capsules containing 200 mg of HA (molecular weight, approximately 900 kDa) once a day every day for 12 months, while the subjects in the placebo group were given hard capsules containing no active ingredients.
For these relatively younger subjects (70 years or younger), the Japan Knee Osteoarthritis Measurement score was significantly better than the one for the placebo group at the second and fourth month after the initiation of administration. Researchers concluded that oral administration of HA may improve the symptoms of knee OA in patients aged 70 years or younger. For further information: www.kewpie.co.jp/english/fc
