Triarco Industries, Wayne, NJ, has obtained U.S. patent No. 7,731,992, titled “Method of inhibition of aromatase with specific dietary supplements.” Aromatase is an endogenous enzyme in both men and women that converts androgenic hormones, like testosterone, into estrogens like estradiol. Slowing this conversion may boost testosterone levels and reduce estradiol levels in men, as well as in women who experience declining testosterone levels after menopause. Low levels of testosterone can cause low libido, fatigue, depression, cognitive problems, changes in body composition and increased chronic disease and cardiovascular risk for both men and women. This is the company’s second patent aimed at the growing demand for natural hormonal support.
