The market for healthy and nutritional bars is soaring, despite the economic recession, according to a new report from Bridge2Food, with European Snack Bars sales growing at a 5% rate, to €1.4 billion. Market expenditure, average price and frequency of purchase have gone up during 2009 in the UK, which are very positive market conditions, according to experts. Private label shares for the bars categories have not grown. In the leading UK market, retailers own only 8% of the category. Adding fiber can substantially improve profitability for manufacturers.
