The National Science Foundation, Arlington, VA, has awarded ChromaDex, Irvine, CA, a $100,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant to further development of several plant-based antioxidants for commercial use in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, functional food, natural chemical and cosmetic products. The project will attempt to prove the viability of selectively manufacturing anthocyanins, leucoanthocyanidins and anthocyanidins. ChromaDex plans to license this novel technology to food, beverage, pharmaceutical and supplement manufacturers to meet growing demands for natural, plant-based ingredients.
