Naturex, Avignon, France, has attained organic certifications for its French manufacturing plant, which complies with 7 CFR Part 205-NOP and the EC directive 2092/91. The Institute for MarketEcology (IMO) is accredited as an official inspection agency by USDA and has certified the Naturex plant’s compliance with the USDA National Organic Program (NOP). NOP compliance is required before labeling any product “organic” in the U.S. and provides, in particular, specific production, handling and labeling standards for these products. The subsidiary of Bureau Veritas, accredited for certification according to the European organic production standards, has also audited and certified the plant. It has a complete set of objectives, principles and rigorous rules for manufacturing and labeling, and allows for the use of the European label “Organic Farming.” Naturex plans to progressively extend these certifications to its other plants.
