Indena, Milan, Italy, has received validation for its Opextan and Zanthalene products for use in cosmetic formulations, according to Ecocert ecological and organic standards. Ecocert is an internationally recognized logo for use in natural and organic cosmetics. Opextan is a patented olive fruit extract designed for topical and oral beauty formulations; it is intended to protect the skin from oxidation due to the sun’s rays. Zanthalene is obtained from a perennial plant native to China and is widely used there as a spice to reduce the irritating properties of some foods and as a treatment for gastrointestinal pain.
