A recent clinical trial revealed that daily consumption of yoghurt containing DSM Food Specialties’ (The Netherlands) Fabuless significantly aids weight maintenance after weight loss. The placebo-controlled, double-blind test aimed to investigate the long-term effects of Fabuless on a group of women aged 18 to 55. Results showed that Fabuless successfully reduced appetite and weight gain after dieting.
In the study, conducted by the University of Maastricht, 50 overweight females underwent a 6-week weight loss period, followed by 18 weeks of weight maintenance. During the weight maintenance phase, they consumed yoghurt containing either Fabuless or placebo. Throughout, the subjects were weighed and measured according to height, body mass index (BMI), and waist and hip circumference. Women who consumed Fabuless showed no significant regain in body weight after six weeks of dieting. This was in contrast to the placebo group, which experienced significant weight gain. Furthermore, BMI and waist circumference remained constant in the Fabuless group, but increased among women consuming the placebo. When asked to rate their hunger levels, the Fabuless group reported experiencing significantly less appetite.
Fabuless contains a combination of oat and palm oils (both naturally occurring dietary lipids) formulated in a novel emulsion.
