Frutarom, Haifa, Israel, has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of Adumim Food Additives, Mishor Edumim, Israel. According to the terms of the agreement, Frutarom will purchase Adumim’s assets for over $4 million. Adumim’s products, some of which are patented, will be integrated into the range of products produced and marketed by both Frutarom’s Flavors and Fine Ingredients divisions. Frutarom intends to utilize the cross-selling opportunities created from this acquisition to sell Adumim products to its existing customers. The cross-selling will also include Adumim’s customers located outside Israel.
In other news, Frutarom and Ramot at Tel Aviv University have signed an exclusive agreement to commercialize unique know-how (patent pending) surrounding the production of an extract from cinnamon with anti viral properties. The agreement with Ramot gives Frutarom an exclusive global license to commercialize the know-how in order to manufacture and market the unique natural extract. Frutarom intends to market this product to the nutraceutical, functional food, health food and animal feed industries. It also intends to further develop the know-how as a drug for humans and animals as part of the company’s natural product offerings.
