Jarrow Formulas, Inc., Los Angeles, has up-formulated CholesTame, a combination of nutrients that influence cholesterol metabolism. It now now includes, in Supplement Facts order: pantethine (200 mg), artichoke leaf extract (600 mg), theaflavin (300 mg), polymethoxylated flavonoids (300 mg), grape seed extract (100 mg ), PomGuard (100 mg), alpha lipoic acid (100 mg) and sesamin lignan (12 mg). Notable additions to the new CholesTame formula are polymethoxylated flavonoids, PomGuard, theaflavin and increased artichoke leaf extract.
The company has also unveiled QH-absorb, which utilizes the reduced form of CoQ10 called ubiquinol. QH-absorb offers improved bioavailability over standard CoQ10 supplements (ubiquinone), and is able to deliver Co-Q10 in its native antioxidant-capable form. QH-Absorb, like Q-Absorb, uses an all-natural liposome-based delivery system to improve absorption, and contains no detergents or surfactants. This delivery system has been validated in multiple trials to significantly improve Co-Q10 absorption over powdered dosage forms, according to the company. Jarrow Formulas’ ubiquinol, supplied by Kaneka, is derived from CoQ10 that is manufactured via a yeast-fermentation process and consists only of the natural trans configuration, the same as is biosynthesized by humans.
