Draft of Traditional Medicines Model Released
The same day results from the Glucosamine Arthritis Intervention Trial (GAIT) were released, a new dietary supplement drink containing glucosamine and chondroitin was launched by The Elations Company, Cincinnati, OH. The drink, Elations, was originally developed and tested marketed by Procter & Gamble (P&G), but was sold to J.W. Childs Associates when P&G exited the juice drink business in 2004. Elations is targeted toward aging baby boomers who are afflicted by nagging joint pain. Each 8-oz. bottle of Elations provides 1500 mg of glucosamine and 1200 mg of chondroitin—the same amount tested daily in the GAIT study. In addition, Elations provides 100% of the RDI of vitamin C and 30% of the RDI of calcium. Elations will officially slide onto store shelves in April, and will be available in Raspberry White Grape Twirl, Cranberry Apple Twist and Ruby Red Grapefruit Lift varieties.
