Sabinsa Corporation, Payson, UT, will be allowed to continue the sales of its Selenium SeLECT brand selenomethionine for use in dietary supplements in the U.K. and Denmark. Beginning in August, the European Union (EU) is scheduled to ban approximately 300 supplement ingredients as part of the Food Supplements Directive. Sabinsa submitted an extensive dossier containing research findings and safety data. As a result, it was granted exemption from this directive for Selenium SeLECT, which was originally slated to be banned. The remaining 23 member states of the EU will grant derogation or accept the result of derogation by the U.K. and Denmark.
