According to a new survey conducted by Thione International, Atlanta, GA, a majority of respondents have heard of antioxidants (nearly 72% of women and 58% of men). However, 24% of all people surveyed said they had no idea what antioxidants do for them and 81% of respondents did not know that antioxidants improve their immune system or can keep them healthy. The survey, which queried 500 people nationwide regarding various questions about antioxidants, was conducted to see exactly how much, or how little, people really knew about antioxidants. The survey also found that income and Internet access play a role in people’s knowledge of antioxidants.
