Ayush Herbs: A Wealth of Health
Three brothers, Virender Sodhi, M.D. (Ayurved), N.D., Tejinder Sodhi, D.V.M. and Shailinder Sodhi, N.D., were behind the founding of Ayush Herbs, Bellevue, WA, in 1988, whosegoal it was to make Ayurvedic herbs available to physicians in the U.S. Ayush Herbs has since become an award-winning player in the manufacture of Ayurvedic extracts and products, combining 5000 years of wisdom with state-of-the-art technology. Ayush Herbs is based on the practice of one of the world’s oldest systems of healing, Ayurvedic, which involves many strategies to restore optimal health and function. These include nutritional therapy, cleansing treatments, herbal supplements, stress reduction techniques and exercise. Ayurveda appeals to a growing number of people today who are eager to understand the source of illness and take a more active role in their own health. Like other holistic medicine systems, Ayurveda considers the whole person in diagnosis and treatment of disease and is prevention oriented.
Ayush Herb products are standardized to ensure all herbs are grown naturally in their pristine Himalayan habitat without the use of herbicides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers or heavy metal concentration and with consistent high quality and potency. Ayush Herbs also has a sister company, R.U. Ved Inc., which is devoted entirely to meeting the need of the retail market for Ayurvedic products.
Ayush herbal products include more than 100 different plant extracts of indigenous Indian herbs, Ayurvedic herbal supplements, essential oils, minerals, topical ointments, sprays and vitamins. Biggest sellers at the company are Boswelya Plus™ for arthritis, Livit-1™ and Livit-2™ for liver support, Biogymnema™ for diabetes and blood sugar balance, Trifal™ for intestinal cleansing, Guggal Lip™ for cholesterol, Carditone™ for hypertension, Ashwagandha™ for adjuvant treatment for cancer, Rentone™ for kidney and urinary tract support and Bacopa Plus™ for memory enhancement. Ayush Herbs’ products also include formulas designed specifically for men, such as Purush™, an aphrodisiac and tonic of the reproductive organs, as well as formulas especially for women, like Eleg Fem™ for pre-and postmenopausal women, Sitawari™ for restoring hormonal balance and Young Fem™ for young women who experience intense emotional and physical difficulties each month. In addition to these formulas, individual Ayurvedic herbs and their extracts are available for private labeling in bulk quantities.
Ayush recently launched two new products, Arjuna Heart and Shilajeet Mumiyo. Arjuna heart is based on a traditional Ayurvedic plant known for its use as a support for the heart. This plant contains flavone arjnolone, tannins, arjunic acid and glycosides. Shilajeet Mumiyo, also known as Mineral Pitch or Black Asphaltum, is a natural occurring mineral widely used in Asia, the Middle East and Russia for common ailments to tonify the immune system. Shilaljeet is considered an aphrodisiac, tonic for kidneys and general support of the immune system
Last year, the Indian national government recognized Ayush Herbs, for the fourth consecutive year, for its product excellence, technological innovation and commitment to helping local farmers in the Himalayan foothills grow Ayurvedic medicinal herbs as a lucrative alternative to the standard grain crops of the region. —J.C.
