Nexira, a supplier of organic and natural ingredients for the dietary supplement and nutrition industry, will highlight two of its ingredient ranges targeting women’s health and the microbiome at SupplySide West.
Nexira will share the results of a new in vivo study on Carolean, a carob and nopal ingredient, which highlights a mechanism of action which may support appetite regulation. Carolean is evidenced to slow gastric emptying both acutely and chronically, which is associated with a significant reduction of food intake.
A study on Nexira’s Oli-Ola olive extract found that supplementation with the ingredient improved skin elasticity by 13%, while also increasing epidermal permeability barrier and skin hydration. In the study, 87% of women were satisfied with the product and 60% perceived benefits after three months of use.
Nexira also wil lshare two new studies to its inavea range of organic, carbon-neutral prebiotics.
A study found that a blend of cinnamon and acacia fiber in the inavea range supported beneficial blood sugar modulation, and it was proposed that this was through changes in the gut microbiome which resulted in significantly increased short-chain fatty acids, and enrichment of bacteria such as Parabacteroides distasonis.
A blend of Nexira’s carob and acacia fibers in the inavea range was also associated with improved microbial diversity. While carob is widely sused as a texturizer, it is also a prebiotic fiber. New research suggests that inavea carob and acacia modulates the microbiome, promoting both beneficial bacteria and short-chain fatty acids, and its fermentation takes place across the entire intestine, Nexira reported.
“We are delighted to present these innovations at SupplySide West,” said Franck Gillet, VP of sales for North America. “Our collection of ingredients for women’s health and the microbiome are the result of extensive research and a constant drive to offer natural, effective solutions to our customers. We are confident that these products will meet consumers’ growing needs for wellness and nutrition.”
