HP Ingredients and H&AD will be showcasing a number of botanical ingredients at this year’s Vitafoods Europe event taking place in Geneva, Switzerland. The portfolio on display will include Bergamonte, ParActin, and HempCare.
Bergamonte
Bergamonte is a blend of Citrus bergamia Risso and Bergamot polyphenolic extract, standardized to contain a high polyphenolic flavonoids content. It is formulated to support healthy cholesterol, blood glucose, HDL levels, and weight management.
The recommended dose is 1,000 mg daily for one to six months until optimal cholesterol levels are achieved, then 500 mg daily for maintenance. 12 published human clinicals with more than 1500 patients have been published to date in order to evidence the efficacy of Bergamonte. The ingredient is GRAS, patent-protected, and can be used either as a standalone or in combination with other ingredients. It is almost exclusively grown in Calabria, Italy. This ingredient will be further showcased at a presentation led by Dr. Vincenzo Mollace, professor of Pharmacology and H&AD scientific director, called “Use of citrus bergamot in cardiometabolic risk management.” The presentation will take place on May 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Life Stages Theater.
ParActin
ParActin is a patented Andrographis paniculata extract standardized to 50% Andrographolides, and is marketed for bone health, joint health, cartilage and muscle health, and immune support, and has been evidenced in clinical research to promote healthy bone turnover. The recommended dose is 300mg daily, which can also be split evenly for twice-daily supplementation. The ingredient has been the subject of five human clinical trials, plus several published in vivo and in vitro studies. The ingredient has been certified for USDA Organic, sustainably harvested, and is processed in a GMP-certified facility. HP Ingredients, in partnership with Hemp Sail, is offering USDA-compliant hemp-derived products grown according to 2014 and 2018 USDA Farm Bill. The company works exclusively with growers who cultivate the hemp without pesticides or herbicides. Its extraction facilities have hemp licenses and manufacturing capabilities that meets cGMP and API requirements. The ingredient comes with third-party lab tests for the concentration of cannabinoids, pesticides, and full panel product.
