A new book published by CRC Press/Taylor and Francis Group, Boca Raton, FL, entitled Phytochemicals: Health Promotion and Therapeutic Potential is the seventh in a series exploring emerging science on plant-based chemicals. The book aims to present information on the role of nutrition, plant-based diets and phytochemicals in healthy aging and management of chronic illness, as well as to promote clinical research demonstrating potential functional food applications.Author, Coleen Carkeet, Ph.D., includes valuable scientific information for food companies and supplement manufacturers in the nutraceuticals market.
Dr. Carkeet, is a senior group leader in Global Regulatory Affairs at Amway. She leads a team of toxicologists and regulatory professionals and has published several papers on human metabolism of phytonutrients and B vitamins. Her co-authors include Kerry Grann, DrPH, senior research scientist for nutrition investigations at Nutrilite Health Institute; R.
