The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED) has released its annual report covering the global omega-3s marketplace. The report details the entire EPA and DHA omega-3 industry in the raw materials segment of the supply chain.
Last year was a challenging one for the industry, GOED reports, with supply shortages and high prices impacting markets around the world. The total global volume of omega-3 ingredients in 2023 was 124,480 metric tons, a 1.4% increase over 2022, while the value increased 22.5%, driven by price hikes, to $2.09 billion.
The report includes market figures for 14 omega-3 sources in 11 geographies, and six end-product applications (dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, infant formula, pet nutrition, food and beverage, and chemical nutrition), with data from 2022 and 2023, as well as forecasts through 2026.
GOED reports that, with its intimate knowledge of the category and access to proprietary sales data from member companies, its report is considered the most accurate and comprehensive of its kind. A sample of the report and purchase information are available on the GOED website.
