E-commerce supplement retailer iHerb has partnered with Cainiao, the logistics arm of Alibaba, to expand its warehouse and fulfillment operations in Hong Kong to better serve the Asia Pacific region.
Cainiao will ramp up its support of iHerb’s regional operations over the next few months, with the new facility capable of processing 15,000 orders daily.
Cainiao has been continuously building logistics infrastructure in Hong Kong and other key regions. The new iHerb global distribution center is adjacent to the Hong Kong International Airport cargo terminal, and is two kilometers from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The global distribution center is connected with Cainiao’s air freight ground handling center, and has customs clearance, consolidation, and security screening operations all in one place. Cainiao also offers high-density automated storage and picking technology to improve space utilization and efficiency.
“We’re excited to be working with Cainiao and leveraging their expertise to expand our fulfillment and logistics capabilities in Hong Kong,” said Miriee Chang, chief operations officer for iHerb. “We’re on a journey to make health and wellness accessible to more people seeking affordable, high-quality products that help improve their overall health and well-being. We ship more than 50,000 products ranging from multivitamins to beauty and skin care to baby food and grocery, to over 180 countries. By ramping up our operations in Hong Kong, our goal is to offer faster delivery for customers.”
Shuai Yong, vice president and general manager of Cainiao Group’s China supply chain, said she is looking forward to the partnership to improve consumer experience. “Boasting rich resources and advantages in e-commerce logistics, Hong Kong is an important bridge connecting the trade between the East and the West. Cainiao has the world's leading smart logistics network and rich experience in warehousing and distribution operations. Going forward, we will leverage our Hong Kong fulfillment center to achieve stock in Hong Kong and ship globally, helping more cross-border e-commerce platforms improve logistics efficiency.”
