Suja Life, a functional beverage specialist company, has acquired the soda brand Slice, in order to revamp the branding and introduce a better-for-you, low sugar, and reduced-calorie version of the beverages. Slice will be reintroduced in 2025 with a new look and pared-down clean ingredients.
The acquisition comes on the tail of a 2022 acquisition of Vive Organic, as part of Suja Life’s portfiolio expansion of better-for-you beverages.
Slice, a fruit-flavored soda introduced in the 1980s, will be relaunched with the same flavors and taste profile of the nostalgic sodas that originally gained popularity. In addition to being natural and low in calories, the soda will deliver gut health and other nutritional benefits, according to the company.
“We believe that choosing a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t mean giving up on flavor or enjoyment,” said Maria Stipp, CEO of Suja Life. “With the acquisition of Slice, we are making it easier for consumers to choose a better-for-you beverage. We all want to feel good about what we drink while still enjoying great taste, and Slice does that while providing functional benefits and low sugar.”
