Nature’s Way Canada has launched NutraSea, a line of omega-3 gummy supplements formulated for kids, which was made possible through the use of Vitux AS’s Concordix technology.
“While Nature’s Way Canada has a well-established omega-3 portfolio for kids, the omega-3 gummy category is underdeveloped. Until now, it’s been hard to innovate in this space and still deliver a meaningful potency of EPA and DHA, while providing a positive sensory experience,” said Dan Hughes, vice president and general manager at Nature’s Way. “This has been a challenge Nature’s Way Canada has been trying to solve for quite some time. We weren’t going to participate unless we could do it properly.”
Concordix was chosen for the new line of gummies based on its clean-label credentials and suitable, sucrose-free flavor profile, a combination of passionfruit, lemon, and lime.
“NutraSea’s key pillars are purity, potency and taste. The fact the partnership with Vitux provided a solution that leans into all of our key pillars in a way that aligns with our brand made this a very easy decision. It fits with who we are,” said Hughes.
“We are excited by how well our corporate values and technology align with what Nature’s Way of Canada was looking for,” said Kristine Cosgrove, director of sales and innovation at Vitux AS. “Kids love this format because it’s fun, easy to take and tastes great. Parents have peace of mind knowing their kids ages three-plus are getting high-quality omega-3s to support their healthy growth and development.”
Hughes noted that one of the strengths of the product is that it requires a dosage of just one gummy chew per day. “In Canada, to be able to say on the label that an omeg-a3 product helps support the development of the brain, eyes, and nerves in children up to 12 years of age, a single serving per day must have at least 150 mg of EPA and DHA,” Hughes said. “Just one great-tasting NutraSea Omega-3 Kids’ Gummy Chew delivers 500 mg of EPA and DHA. Each chew also delivers 500 IUs of Vitamin D3.”
Hughes said that the hygienically-sealed gummies are also suitable for travel and hectic schedules.
Transparency and Sustainability
Nature’s Way uses PureCheck quality assurance for each lot of its products, and the new gummies will be included in the PureCheck program, in which testing results for all products are posted online for consumers to view.
The supplement is also Friend of the Sea Certified.
In addition, Nature’s Way Canada joined 1% for the Planet, an international business alliance committed to environmental stewardship.
NutraSea Omega-3 Kids Gummy Chews will be launched at CHFA Now Toronto, which is slated to take place September 23-24. The new products will have mass retail distribution through Canada and an online presence both on the company’s website and Amazon.
