Supplementation with Magtein PS, a magnesium L-threonate and phosphatidyl serine complex ingredient distributed exclusively by AIDP, was linked to improved scores in a cognitive memory test in a study appearing in Nutrients.
In the double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 109 healthy Chinese adults between the ages of 18 and 65 were administered either a placebo or Magtein PS at a dose of two grams daily for 30 days. The participants took part in “The Clinical Memory Test,” a standard test commonly used in Chinese hospitals and in clinical studies for cognitive evaluation, both at baseline and at the end of the treatment period.
Subjects receiving Magtein PS showed significant improvements over the control group in all five subcategories of “The Clinical Memory Test,” as well as the overall memory quotient scores.
“This study is the third human clinical publication in healthy adults and validates Magtein’s cognitive support for a broad age group as well as an ethnic group,” said Dr. Jennifer Gu, vice president of research and development at AIDP. “There is a significant research pipeline for Magtein, and we are pleased with this recent publication.”
Magtein is a patented magnesium L-threonate which was introduced into market in 2014 after scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology reported that it can effectively deliver magnesium into brain cells. The ingredient has since appeared in several consumer products marketed for cognitive support, as well as mood, sleep, stress, and anxiety.
