Nutrasource, a global full-service contract research organization (CRO) with operations in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia Pacific, announced a new expansion to their on-site clinical trials facility in Ontario. The clinic, just one in the organization’s global network of 400 facilities, represents an extension of upgrades the company made last year.
Nutrasource reports that they are able to uniquely handle a growing number of concurrent trials in specialized therapeutic areas not typically available elsewhere in the nutraceutical sector. These trials will be in addition to the work already being done by the company’s clinical research teams on products such as omega-3s, probiotics, cannabis, and more within the natural health products, dietary supplements, and pharmaceutical sectors.
“The expansion of the clinic is part of our ongoing commitment in providing the best work experience and service solutions for our customers,” William Rowe, president and CEO of Nutrasource, said. “This infrastructure growth has more than doubled our capacity and adds clinical tools unique to the nutritional CRO space.”
The company has already run a virtual clinical trial through its on-site clinic managed by its team, and was able to screen, enroll, and randomize 270 participants within 3 months across 47 U.S. states. “The study, which includes a collection of stool samples and questionnaires, continues to display high participant interest and engagement, all while maintaining a low participant attrition rate,” the company said.
The on-stie clinic features 24/7 patient overnight facilities, an environmental chamber for smoking or vaping, exercise equipment for sports nutrition, pain, and inflammation models, pharmacy security, two early phase units, a phase II and III outpatient unit, a full metabolic kitchen, a complete sample preparation and processing lab, and a remote clinical trial command center.
