NOW, the largest independent and family-owned manufacturer of natural products in the U.S. health food store channel, has received a top human resources award for 2019 from the National Association for Business Resources, as one of the nation’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the large business category.
This competition identifies and honors organizations for their operations and employee enrichment practices that contribute to increased productivity and financial performance. The program honored 540 winning organizations in the U.S. out of a total of 5,000 nominations. The national winning companies were assessed by an independent research firm which reviewed a number of key measures relative to other nationally recognized winners. This national program celebrates companies focusing on “better businesses, creating richer lives, and building a stronger community as a whole,” NOW reports.
NOW was also chosen as one of the nation’s Best and Brightest in the wellness category, which honors companies that promote employee wellbeing, and worksite health and wellness. Company entries are examined statistically for quantitative and qualitative data. Each survey was scored on a point system based upon criteria to benchmark and improve wellness program effectiveness. These criteria included outcomes, analysis, tracking, participation and incentives, benefits and programs, leadership, employee input, culture, and environment.
This is the 7th consecutive year in which NOW received this national recognition, and the 3rd year in which it received recognition within the wellness category.
“Each member of our team is vital to our success, and we endeavor to make sure they know how much they are appreciated,” NOW CEO Jim Emme said. “Perhaps now more than ever, providing quality employment in a healthy and safe environment is essential. This is something that is embedded in our company culture, and this independent recognition means a lot to us.”
The Best and Brightest Companies to Work For award is organized each year by the National Association for Business Resources, a business development organization which aims to focus on the employee and community levels.
