Les Mills International, San Francisco, CA, has developed a new functional protein powder: LES MILLS Good Protein. LES MILLS Good Protein enables fitness enthusiasts to fuel their bodies with simple ingredients that assist muscle recovery and metabolism, while helping to manage appetite cravings, according to the company. LES MILLS Good Protein powder contains no added sugars, no added fillers and is made of only six simple ingredients.
Good Protein contains the same proteins that are found in real milk and in the same ratio: whey and casein. This is how milk protein appears in its natural state. Whey gives a fast release of amino acids, while casein provides a slower release over several hours. Together, this combination has been shown to provide the optimum muscle recovery.
“When we took a look at the nutrition products our own Les Mills instructors and consumers were using, many contained added fillers, sugars like fructose and artificial sweeteners. We created Good Protein so that people can benefit from the convenience of a high quality protein powder, with the reassurance that it doesn’t contain anything unnecessary,” said Dr. Jackie Mills, chief creative officer, Les Mills International.
This closer-to-source dairy-based protein is made from the milk of grass-fed cows and sweetened with stevia leaf extract. Good Protein is a protein concentrate from the milk of New Zealand grass-fed cows. It is less processed than protein isolates, which typically go through further heat and chemical steps, the company said. One scoop of Good Protein provides more than 25 grams of pure protein.
“Les Mills wants to provide solutions that help to prevent the major health issues caused by inactivity and an unhealthy diet,” said Dr. Mills. “But we realize people have busy lives, and sometimes they need a bit of extra help to reach their fitness and health goals. Good Protein is a great tasting protein powder than can help people stay on track with better food choices during their day.”
