Australian company Soho Flordis International (SFI), an international provider of natural medicines, has acquired the nutraceutical company ProThera.
ProThera has 50 years of formulation experience and a comprehensive product line of probiotics and dietary supplements distributed exclusively by healthcare providers, giving SFI entry into both the growing field of probiotics and the U.S. market. ProThera, which is headquarters in Reno, NV, will serve as a regional hub for the commercialization of the SFI Group product portfolio and future pipeline.
In a corresponding move, SFI also acquired Ginsana, a developer of natural medicine products based in Bioggio, Switzerland. Owned by Pharmaton, a Boehringer Ingelheim Group company, Ginsana brings state-of-the-art facilities and a line of six natural medicine brands the SFI portfolio. Ginsana will continue to market its products under the Ginsana brand name and manufacture natural medicines.
“The parallel acquisition of ProThera and Ginsana not only gives us entry into the attractive field of probiotics, it has extended our network and pipeline of natural medicine brands with a great legacy,” said SFI CEO, Nigel Pollard. “Building on our success in the southern hemisphere — in Australia and South Africa — we have now established a strong foundation for expansion in the northern hemisphere and its main markets, the U.S., Europe, Middle East and Asia.
