BiProUSA, Minneapolis, MN, has earned certification through NSF International's Athletic Banned Substances Certification Program, Certified for Sport for its BiPro all-natural whey protein isolate.
NSF International's Certified for Sportprogram reduces the risk that a dietary or sports supplement contains banned substances. Recognized by Major League Baseball (MLB) and the MLB Players Association, National Football League (NFL), Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the Professional Golf Association (PGA), the NSF Certification program was developed in response to growing demands by athletes, coaches, team owners and others concerned about finding banned substances in sports nutrition products.
To achieve certification, BiProUSA was evaluated by NSF International to verify that the information appearing on the BiPro label matches the content of the product and that no banned substances are present. Requirements of the program include formulation and label review, toxicology review, facility GMP inspection and laboratory analysis for label contents, undeclared ingredients and contaminants.
These requirements are included in NSF/ANSI Standard 173, the only American national standard for dietary supplements, which NSF developed to address the safe manufacturing of dietary supplements. BiProUSA's whey protein isolates were also screened for banned substances, which included screening for more than 130 analytes.
For meeting these requirements, BiPro's label will bear the NSF Certified for Sport Mark to show athletes, coaches, and consumers that a dietary supplement or sport nutrition product has met NSF International's stringent criteria.
"BiPro's certification through the NSF Certified for Sport program has become one of the first all natural whey protein isolates available for consumers to participate in this program. We are very excited to offer BiPro to not only professional athletes and coaches but to gym owners, marathon runners, and other health conscious individuals," said Polly Olson, vice president of sales and marketing and business development at BiProUSA.
