Women in Nutraceuticals (WIN), a nonprofit made by a cohort of global nutraceutical industry leaders, has announced the first in a series of three webinars designed to increase the number of clinical studies on women. The topic is a part of WIN’s mission, which is to champion more women in science, as well as research initiatives in female populations.

The first of the series, “Considerations for recruitment of female participants in clinical studies,” will take place on April 4 at 10:00 a.m. ET. With the expansion of the supplement industry over the years, clinical trials are increasingly leveraged by companies for competitive advantage and as a way of building consumer trust. Evolving regulatory guidelines for supplements are steering industry players toward more inclusive studies that represent a target consumer base, WIN notes.

Given how many supplement users are female, and with the rising interest in women’s health products in mind, the webinar will explore strategies for recruiting and retaining women in clinical trials, addressing benefits, obstacles, and supportive tools. The speakers will be Cynthia Suarez-Rizzo, PhD, of Finzelburg, Dr. Belinda Tan, MD, PhD, co-CEO of People Science, and Amanda Rao, PhD, founder, director, and principal investigator at RDC Clinical.
