Premium Label and Packaging Solutions (PLPS) has unveiled its company-wide sustainability initiative.

“As a proud member of the label and packaging community, we embrace our responsibility to make eco-conscious choices that protect our planet,” said Chris Payne, CEO. “We are driven by the belief that sustainable practices inspire sustainable results. That’s why we approached this initiative with a holistic mindset, impacting every facet of our business, from our raw materials, to our products, to our plant operations, and, of course, our people.”

The company’s new mission statement is “We strive to be a trusted partner to our clients by enhancing their products, supporting their success, and driving positive environmental impact,” in order to reflect its commitment.

Earth+

The cornerstone of PLPS’ initiative is the launch of Earth+,  a portfolio of products that are 100% recyclable, with more products currently in development.

These products include a line of pressure sensitive labels for both PET and HDPE containers; a line of shrink sleeves for PET and HDPE which consumers don’t have to remove from containers to recycle; and a line of flexible packaging which allows for photo-quality graphics and reduced environmental impact, strong oxygen and moisture barrier, and compliance with the How2Recycle program.

“Many of our clients have told us that they want to move towards sustainable packaging but are overwhelmed because it can be a complicated process with numerous ramifications,” said Lesllie Gurland, VP of sales and marketing. “We understand that transitioning to sustainable packaging is challenging, which is why our experts provide end-to-end support. We’ll collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the final product meets bot aesthetic goals and recyclability criteria. Our technical specialists can be on press during trials, at the contract manufacturing facility during product filling, and at recycling centers to ensure the final product passes.”

Silver EcoVadis Certification

PLPS received a Silver rating after being assessed by EcoVadis.

“In 2024, EcoVadis received applications from over 150,000 companies in 185 countries,” said Gurland. “We are honored to have scored a silver badge, which signifies that we rated in the top 15% of all companies, a significant achievement for our first assessment. This globally recognized platform evaluates sustainability criteria across four core themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Employee Engagement

Lastly, the company has announced employee engagement initiatives. Each plant location actively reduces environmental harm by reducing ink, water, solvents, and waste. The company’s PLPS Community Cares initiative will encourage employee engagement in events that align with its mission of driving positive environmental impact, offering paid time off for participation.
