Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Today, PLT Health Solutions, Inc. announced that it is launching a water-dispersible form of its Slendacor Weight Management Complex Ingredient. Slendacor’s formula, in its former delivery method, is widely competitive in the consumer weight management markets in the U.S., Brazil, Australia, Asia, and Europe. Slendacor is a patented formula containing extracts of the curcuma longa root, the moringa oleifera leaf, and the murraya koenigii leaf as its active ingredients. Clinical research suggests that the supplement works by inhibiting the accumulation of fat in fat cells (lipogenesis) and enhancing the body’s ability to break down fat (lipolysis), in turn enhancing weight loss and helping to re-shape the body. Slendacor WD will allow formulators of consumer products to deliver its proprietary blend in new forms, including powders, shakes, chews, gummies, and shots. “The vast majority of effective weight management ingredients are only available in capsule formulations because of taste and solubility issues,” Seth Flowerman, president and CEO of PLT Health Solutions, said. “Since we introduced Slendacor in 2017, we have seen remarkable growth across diverse markets – and we are proud to be the active technology powering many of the top weight management formulas around the world. As Slendacor has gained in popularity, we have received multiple requests from our partners to develop a form of Slendacor that can work in additional innovative application formats to attract new customers and expand the usage occasions. Working with our partner, Laila Nutraceuticals, and their world-class applications capabilities, we are excited to be making this new technology broadly available.” According to Slendacor WD spokespersons, a clinical trial consisted of participant pools of overweight but not obese men and women of a broad age range. The pool of participants who took Slendacor WD showed statistically significant differences in weight loss and a reduction in waist circumference without a loss in lean body mass, within a span of 14 days. Barbara Davis, PLT’s head of clinical and regulatory services, said that clinical trials could open opportunities for new market segments in addition to the new product forms slated for debut. “Most weight management clinical studies look only at women. Yet in the active/sports nutrition market, men make up the majority of customers,” Davis said. “Slendacor clinical study results showed strong efficacy for both women and men. The research also hits on other issues that are important to active nutrition consumers – fast results, no loss of lean body mass and significant reductions in pounds and hip and weight circumference. All of these can lead to products that can support body re-shaping – a goal of many of these consumers.”
