Plexus Worldwide, a direct-to-consumer health and wellness company, recently launched Plexus Sleep, a supplement which promotes quality sleep and sleep cycle maintenance.

The supplement contains 5 mg of melatonin combined with 1.7 grams of fructooligosaccharides (FOS), ashwagandha, GABA, lemon balm extract, and L-tryptophan.

Citing a survey conducted by Royal Philips, Plexus Worldwide reports thaht eight in 10 adults want to improve the quality of their sleep. The Mayo Clinic recommends seven hours per night.

“Inadequate sleep and overall poor quality of sleep is an issue that many people deal with,” says Michael Hartman, vice president of research and development at Plexus Worldwide. “We developed Plexus Sleep to address sleep from two approaches – ingredients that support healthy sleep patterns and prebiotic fibers that feed probiotic gut microbes. As a company that focuses on gut health, this is an exciting new addition to our product offering.”

Sleep quality has downstream benefits relevant to mental health and mindfulness, while sleep deprivation is shown to lead to reduced alertness, attention, and vigilance.

Further, sleep quality appears to influence the gut-brain axis. More specifically, sleep quality is associated with greater diversity of gut microbes.

Plexus Sleep is available as a gummy with a sugar-free mixed berry flavor. It contains no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives.
