A study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition has shown that oral ATP administration prevents exercise-induced declines in ATP while enhancing peak power and muscular excitability (the ratio of power output to muscle activation).

In the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted by the University of Tampa, 42 healthy male individuals were given either 400 mg of ATP (patented PEAK ATP provided by TSI USA Inc., Missoula MO) or a placebo for two weeks prior to repeated high-intensity sprinting bouts. Key findings show that oral PEAK ATP supplementation prevented a drop in ATP, adenosine-5-diphosphate (ADP) and adenosine-5-monophosphate (AMP) levels post-exercise as well as prevented the decline of ATP in later exercise bouts. The study also showed that ATP significantly increased Wingate peak power in later exercise bouts.

“PEAK ATP is the only ingredient we know of that is proven to boost muscular excitability, a new and exciting category in sports nutrition. By boosting muscular excitability PEAK ATP provides a critical advantage to athletes who want to increase the intensity and/or frequency of their workouts and ultimately see better results from their efforts,” said Larry Kolb, president of TSI USA Inc. “Instead of fatiguing, athletes are able to push themselves harder because they are able to maintain muscle contractions during high intensity workouts. That’s the beauty of this new ‘muscular excitability’ benefit from consuming PEAK ATP pre-workout.”

By supplementing with PEAK ATP, consumers also directly support their body’s natural stores of ATP. “If you want to support and replenish your body’s ATP levels, why not just take the real thing, PEAK ATP, instead of the many pre-cursers out there that claim to boost ATP?” added Mr. Kolb.

This latest study adds to the existing dossier of efficacy and safety studies that have shown Peak ATP to be a critical pre-workout ingredient for those looking to increase muscle mass, strength and power through improvements in muscular excitability while also reducing post workout muscle fatigue.
