The new lead limit will be valid from March 1, 2019.

As part of GOED’s commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards in the industry, the organization maintains and continually updates a quality monograph to which members must adhere. The monograph was recently updated to lower the maximum limit for lead from 0.1 to 0.05 mg/kg. Adoption of proposed changes to the GOED Voluntary Monograph requires a vote by GOED members and the new limit was supported by a large majority of the membership.

The new lead limit will be valid from March 1, 2019. The new limit does not apply to products already on the market at the time the new limit was adopted, and all products should meet the limit by March 1, 2020.
