The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED) has launched a new educational portal on its website that highlights the sustainability posture of all sources involved in the global EPA and DHA category.

The portal is a resource for consumers, industry professionals, financial analysts, regulators, and NGOs to provide transparency into the current sustainability status of the omega-3 sector.

Topics include:

  • What does sustainable mean in today’s omega-3 industry?
  • The breadth and complexity of the EPA and DHA supply chain
  • Sustainability by source (fish, krill, algae)
  • GOED’s role in the industry’s sustainability progress

The portal summarizes five years of GOED’S strategic work to benchmark the sustainability performance of the industry and identify practical ways the organization can foster continued improvement across its membership.

“Stakeholders worldwide are asking tougher questions about the environmental and social costs of production and omega-3s are no exception,” said Chris Gearheart, director of sustainability and market intelligence at GOED. “This portal showcases the omega-3 industry’s longstanding commitment to evidence-based research, responsible practices and leadership. We invite the broader supplement industry to use this portal to spark new conversations about what sustainability looks like in the nutrition space.”
