Givaudan, a supplier specializing in fragrance, flavor, beauty, and health ingredients, has partnered with Comet to become an authorized distributor of Comet’s Arrabina prebiotic fiber. The gluten-free wheat fiber extract contains a unique mix of prebiotics as found in nature, including arabinoxylan and lignin, and is abundant in polyphenols.

The dietary fiber is evidenced to beneficially modulate the microbiome, per an unpublished study on an ex vivo intestinal model, and exhibits strong tolerability even at three servings daily.

300 million Americans (90%) fall short of recommended daily fiber consumption, according to National Health and Nutirtion Examination Survey (NHANES) data, leading to an increased demand for nutraceutical, food, and beverage products containing fiber, according to Givaudan.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Comet and offer its unique, natural fiber that is sustainably sourced,” said Timothee Olagne, health and nutrition category director at Givaudan. “We selected Comet’s Arrabina as it allows our customers to enhance the nutritional value of their products and deliver innovative food experiences with gut health benefits.”

“As we enter into our second year of full-scale production, we are excited to collaborate with Givaudan to expand our market reach for Arrabina,” said Loula Merkel, CEO of Comet.

Arrabina is stable at low pH and high temperatures, making it a suitable ingredient for a variety of applications. The fiber is upcycled certified, has a low carbon footprint, and uses renewable energy for production. The new ingredient complements Givaudan’s own prebiotic fiber, Oatwell, and adds to Givaudan’s portfolio of gut health solutions.
