Colorado-based Elixinol, which sells hemp-derived CBD products, has gained USDA Organic Certification for its Organic Balance CBD tincture.
 
Elixinol’s Organic Balance USDA certified organic tinctures are crafted with whole-hemp extract. By using this full-spectrum oil, these tinctures are rich in CBD and also boast a complete range of complementary cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes that define the entourage effect, according to the company.
 
In order to receive organic certification, hemp must be grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. Growers must employ tillage and cultivation practices that maintain or improve soil health and minimize erosion through crop rotation or the use of cover crops. To receive the designation, CBD products must be extracted from hemp using either the CO2 or the lipid method. Elixinol uses the lipid method, which involves steeping the hemp in certified organic coconut oil.
