Eagle Diagnostics, a subsidiary of a testing laboratory for professional sports leagues and Olympic teams, announced today the launch of TruShield Certified, a certification program that sets a new standard in banned substance testing.

The program is designed for detection of banned substances that athletes are most at risk for, often before they hit the mainstream. The program tests for the presence of over 400 banned substances and is intentionally designed to complement, not duplicate, existing GMP, label claim, and contaminant testing.

TruShield will leverage its over-20 years of experience in testing athletes’ blood and urine for prohibited substances in the supplement industry, and the company promises “faster turnaround times and cost-effective testing, without sacrificing accuracy.”

The TruShield Program is backed by a U.S.-based laboratory specializing in substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). TruShield is unique in its exclusive focus on testing the most current list of banned substances, leveraging ISO17025-accredited methods. The program screens for over 400 banned substances, including those found on the Amazon adulterated list, as well as compounds of concern that are critical for anti-doping compliance.

The program, built on protecting athletes and consumers and brands alike, features anti-doping methodologies often unavailable at general testing labs. For athletes, this approach eliminates the risk of inadvertent positive tests by continuously updating testing protocols with newly identified prohibited substances.

“With over 20 years of banned substance testing and program development, I built TruShield Certified to meet the real-world needs of sports organizations and supplements brands who can’t afford to take chances,” said Lori Bestervelt, senior vice president of certification services. “Our proven track record in anti-doping and banned substance detection has fueled our expansion into finished product testing. It’s not just about testing, it’s about trust. Delivered by scientists with deep anti-doping expertise and the most current and relevant list of banned substances.”
