For years, the NAD+ category of research has centered around methods to boost the body’s production of this coenzyme through precursors such as nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). However, researchers question if preserving NAD+ that already exists within the body is as important as supporting its production.

At the FASEB Science Research Conference on NAD Metabolism and Signaling, which began on June 7 and runs to June 11 in Melbourne, FL, scientists will discuss the topic at length, including new discoveries in NAD homeostasis, mitochondrial metabolism, cellular signaling, aging, and translational applications.

Mathias Ziegler, MD, PhD, professor of biomedicine at the University of Bergen in Norway and chief science officer at Blue Helix Health will discuss recent findings highlighting how its botanical ingredient, BluNADBooster, is designed to support both NAD+ production and preservation.

“Recent events such as the NAD conference in Copenhagen and the FASEB meeting in Florida highlight what an exciting time this is for the NAD research community,” said Ziegler. “Scientists worldwide are sharing novel findings on NAD homeostasis, mitochondrial metabolism, and their impact on human health. We continue to expand our knowledge about NAD and investigate the possibilities to translate findings to applications for a healthier lifespan for people.”

The findings Ziegler will present arrive about whether circulating NAD biomarkers alone are enough to predict meaningful health benefits.

“New research around the CD38 enzyme is proving our instinct and validation in finding botanicals that uniquely target these enzymes that consume NAD,” said Ashish Suthar, PhD, managing director of Blue Helix Health. “This gives BluNADBooster a distinct advantage in a marketplace full of synthetic NAD precursors.”

BluNADBooster combines polyphenol-rich extracts from pomegranate and marigold and is designed to support NAD metabolism through a dual-action mechanism that includes modulation of CD38, a key enzyme involved in NAD degradation.

Elise Kaiser, chief growth officer of NXT USA, the exclusive distributor of Blue Helix, will also participate in a panel discussion focused on translating NAD discoveries into evidence-based applications for consumer health products.

NXT will also present on the emerging science behind NAD preservation and the role of CD38 enzymes in age-related NAD decline during a LinkedIn Live event on June 16, “The Missing Half of NAD+: Why CD38 Matters.”
