BI, a global supplier of plant-based ingredients, recently introduced a line of hemp ingredients, which have now been tested and approved using the company’s unique Identilok species identification process.

The hemp products join more than 200 ingredients that have been tested for safety and quality using the Identilok.

BI said it works with qualified suppliers to source high quality ingredients, which are validated through its extensive testing methods, including heavy metals, pesticides and irradiation. All of BI’s ingredients, including its new hemp product line, are guaranteed the highest levels of product purity, authenticity, and cleanliness using Identilok testing. The testing includes DNA, HPTLC, Microscopic Image Analysis, Organoleptic Testing and Macroscopic Taxonomy, as well as TLC, FTIR, HPLC, and GC as required.

Due to the quality variance in the botanical supply chain, BI has long advocated for the validation of testing—and it is no different for the hemp market. Validation is extremely important considering the diversity of hemp ingredients in the current market.
