Aker BioMarine, a supplier specializing in ingredients derived from Antarctic krill for the human and pet nutrition markets, has appointed Simon Seward as the executive vice president of the company’s human health and nutrition business.

In the new role, Seward will lead the company’s growth strategy for the Superba Brand, having previously held a position with the company as senior vice president of the Qrill Aqua brand of Antarctic krill meal for the pet nutrition industry.

Superba krill oil is extracted from Antarctic krill, and contains high concentrations of choline and omega-3 fatty acids. With a high phospholipid content, the ingredient is intended to deliver EPA, DHA, and choline to tissues including the brain, heart, eyes, and liver.

Seward has three decades of international sales and marketing experience across a number of sectors, including the global nutrition and aquaculture markets for the last ten years. Prior to working at Aker BioMarine, Seward worked with the Norwegian human nutrition group, Sana Pharma Holding, in a variety of management roles including the launch of the Algalif astaxanthin business. As EVP of human health and nutrition, Seward will report to Aker BioMarine CEO Matts Johansen.

“I am looking forward to leading the Superba team and bringing continued success to our key markets in the Americas, Asia and Europe,” Seward said. “We have high growth ambitions and compelling commercial strategies for Superba krill oil over the next few years. By 2025, we are aiming to double our revenue and I am committed to lead the team to accomplish these goals.”
